Video: Ukraine launches largest attack on Russia this year
Ukraine carried out what it and Russian officials described as the largest drone attack on Russia since the start of 2026, targeting oil and logistics facilities. Russian authorities reported two people killed and five injured in Moscow, and flight operations were disrupted. The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense systems shot down 1,110 drones overnight, while Moscow's mayor said more than 1,600 drones were downed since Saturday.
Why it matters: This attack on Russian oil infrastructure illustrates the energy theme central to the war's geoeconomics.
