Ethiopian Airlines’ new Boeing orders

Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines announced that the carrier has ordered eight 777-8 freighters and two 777 freighters. The order is Ethiopian Airlines' second for the 777X airplane family, following its purchase of eight 777-9 passenger jets, which made it Africa's first 777X customer. The airline said the 777-8 will be the world's largest and most capable twin-engine freighter, supporting its international freight operations.

Why it matters: The order adds capacity to African long-haul air freight, a segment of the trade and supply-chain infrastructure theme.
