3 Tankers of Russian Diesel Headed for North America, Russian Deputy PM Says
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said three tankers carrying Russian diesel were on their way to North America as part of a deal to supply US and world markets, with support from the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Novak said Russian companies could supply 500,000 metric tons in October, while the deal announced by US President Donald Trump provided for 300,000 metric tons in October and more later. The Trump administration temporarily lifted US sanctions on Russian fuel that were designed to deprive Moscow of revenues for its war on Ukraine.
Why it matters: The shipment shows how energy security and sanctions relief are being linked in a bilateral deal that could affect global diesel flows.
