UN's Sudan fact-finding mission blasts SAF-aligned government’s ‘weak’ argument for denying access
The UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan has dismissed as "weak" the SAF-aligned government's arguments for refusing access. Mission chairman Mohamed Chande Othman said the mission is ready to investigate allegations that the SAF is manufacturing chemical weapons using chlorine. The mission will continue investigating the role of external actors in the conflict despite being denied access.
Why it matters: This relates to the theme of conflict and accountability, as the UN mission seeks to document violations and identify perpetrators in Sudan's war.
