US House passes Russia-Iran sanctions bill
The US House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill that imposes new sanctions on Russia and extends Iran sanctions for five years. The bill allows presidents to impose tariffs of up to 100 per cent on major importers of Russian energy and targets Russia's shadow fleet. It now heads to President Donald Trump's desk.
Why it matters: This matters for the geoeconomics theme because it shows sanctions being used to shape energy trade and state revenues.
