US extends sanctions waiver on Russia's Lukoil until 2027
The US Treasury Department extended a sanctions waiver on Lukoil, allowing the Russian oil company's service operations outside Russia to continue until April 2027. The new general licence permits Lukoil petrol stations, including those in the US, to serve customers until April 25, 2027, and replaces a previous licence that was set to expire this month. A separate licence authorised certain transactions for Lukoil Bulgaria's firms over the same period.
Why it matters: The waiver sustains a sanctions exemption for Lukoil's operations outside Russia, affecting energy-market access amid elevated oil and diesel prices.
