Yemen Forces Keep Up Efforts to Eliminate Remaining Houthis from Bab al-Mandeb

Yemeni government forces continued operations against the Houthi group on the Taiz fronts and began offensive operations to clear remaining Houthi forces at Bab al-Mandeb, as Operation Dawn of Yemen entered its 14th day, with airstrikes and ground clashes also reported in Lahj, Marib and Al-Jawf. Military statements said government forces and the Popular Resistance repelled attacks near Taiz and that 100 Houthi members were killed and 190 wounded in fighting on Saturday. The Yemeni Armed Forces said they conducted 1,417 targeting operations in the past 24 hours and that around 800 militants were killed and wounded, with more than 190 vehicles destroyed or damaged.

Why it matters: The fighting bears on maritime security because the Bab al-Mandeb front lies near a strait the text identifies as a vital corridor for international navigation.
