Sudan intelligence chief cites 3 concerns, announces Khartoum's openness to dialogue with neighbors
Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, director general of Sudan's General Intelligence Service, said the war is a battle of the state against non-state actors and announced Khartoum's openness to objective dialogue with Chad, Ethiopia and eastern Libya. He identified three internal concerns: security, societal conflict and the economic situation. He also said the external axis had contributed significantly to the war's continuation.
Why it matters: This matters for regional diplomacy because Khartoum is coupling an offer of dialogue with Chad, Ethiopia and eastern Libya to accusations that external actors sustain the war.
